| Assad means to get the Golan back into Syrian hands. He seems willing to do this through a peace agreement or by casting his lot with Iran. Barring any magmanimous Israeli gestures toward Syria, there will likely be a war at some point, with Iran, Syria, Hamas, Hizbollah, and possibly others on one side and Israel on the other side. This is the venue in which Assad will seek his recompence from Israel. Israeli "generosity" is not expected or needed. |
