Lev Leviev is not such a nice guy. Yes, he gives a lot of money to charity, but he uses nasty means to make it. I lived in a settlement where he a company he owns is the builder. He owns all of the unbuilt upon land. When Rabin stopped the building in the settlements, Leviev figured out that he could make money by turning what was to be a new neighborhood into a quarry. He destroyed a small mountain. We had noise from 6am until late every night from the heavy equipment, dust in the air which causes illnesses in children and large trucks driving through our neighborhood. One small child was injured by a truck. Appeals to local authorities did no good.
I suspect that they were in Leviev`s pocket, especially after they renewed his permits.We tried to fight him, but we didn`t have the financial means. What could a few young families do? If we hired a lawyer, he could have hired an army of lawyers. |
