| I am constantly amazed at how sure the Israelis are that they will win the next war. A lot has changed since 1973. The US is much weaker and the people are very anti-war. Even if the Israelis are dying by the thousands, the US will be both unwilling and unable to help. Israel`s enemies have much better weapons now that are equal to or better than anything Israel has. The world oil supply is precarious at best (US$100/bbl on Tuesday) and any war will only make that worse, so most of the world will side with the Arabs, not Israel. So Israel will be fighting most of the world alone, doesn`t sound like a "winning" situation to me. |
