Of course we must ignore the statements of Mazel and Mayer: No one is going to be impressed by the views expressed by persons whose jobs are to attack those whose views on the Israel-Palestinians issue are either neutral or pro-Palestine. However, we must still ask if the government`s approach was correct (by our standards - only Swedes can say if it was correct by their standards).
In my humble opinion, those who occupy positions like his may well hold views - every human does - but cannot properly apply them or even show them. Same as with Judges: in no decent country can Judges express opinions on controversial issues (Yes, I suspect that many of you live in countries where Judges do so, but that hardly makes such behavior acceptable).
His statement that a "former" person in his department "is" now expressing views on this issue does not prove his point. On the contrary, it disproves it: as with Judges in democratic countries, when you want to express views you resign first |
