I am sure that most people reading this are above the kind of hatred and racism against Jews and visceral disdain for Israel that EVERY HAARETZ ARTICLE evokes from a host of talkbackers. They only spread hatred and (willful) misunderstanding.
Don`t blame Haaretz reporting. It would take angelic editing to put all the details out there.
Instead the talkbacks should be canceled. in the good old days, all nutcases sent in letters to the editor. only intelligent, pertinent comments were published. I don`t care that Maureen and Zaki are the way they are, and i don`t need to be confronted with it every time i read an article that mentions the word "Israel" or "Jew" on line.
Yes there are problems in Israel - for Jews and Arabs. Mature discourse on all issues is a pillar of democratic society. Talkbackers undermine that and bring us to a visceral "Jew-hater" vs. "Jew-defender" level of argument - that serves no one. |
