It is possible both to sympathize deeply with the young victims and still believe that US laws are overly harsh.
Mondrowitz needs to be kept away from children, certainly and to do some jail time. Still, I don`t see life in prison, where he will no doubt be subjected to violence and sexual abuse himself, to be appropriate.
Sexual offenders need to be housed in separate facilities and receive treatment.
The US, as one poster noted, has the harshest penal system in the western, industrialized world--and we are less safe than most Europeans. American society can be very cruel. |
