As a Dutch Jew, I can tell you the threat is perceived, but brushed off.
As long as Islamist think they`re at war and that killing civilians will in any way speed up their way to heaven or a Caliphate, the danger is present. And we all know that no excuse is needed, or can always be fabricated.
Al-Qaeda`s beef with Spain is the loss of Al-Andalus in 1492. The beef with Austria has its origins on the Balkan. And Berbers, Kurds, etc etc have suffered for other reasons.
Until it becomes clear to even the most dim witted extremist that faith includes absolving the sword, each and everyone of us (West and East, North and South) are living in a powder keg. |
