One really sometimes has to wonder whether Israels politicians (especially the right- wingers...) take the fate of the Diaspora Jews all over the world just a little bit into consideration when they make their decisions in the Knesset.
And the killing of the Hezbollah deputy chief in Syria is probably not even the best example here, because this man may indeed have been a security risk for Israel.
No, it is the refusal of those politicians to accept any fair compromise with their Palesti- nian neighbours, which is on the long term very much endangering the lifes of Jewish people all over the world, because it is reinforcing old anti-Semitic stereotypes ("tricky, greedy, arrogant, pushy").
If I would be Diaspora Jew, I would make a big difference between Israels security interests and her ideological extremism.
I would have (a lot of) comprehension for the first, but I would be furious about the second.... |
