| What surprises me when reading the comments on Haaretz is how Jewish Israelis living within Israel are only exposed to one side of the story. According to B`Tselem, Human Rights Watch, and Amnesty International, Israel`s actions on the ground violate human rights and are not justified. This is NOT an extremist opinion; this is the opinion of the worldwide MAINSTREAM human rights organizations. Israel constantly mistreats civilians in the occupied territories. See the writings of Gideon Levy, published in Haaretz a while back: "Born in the shadow of a checkpoint" and "Killing children is no longer a big deal". You have to realize that Israel does not care for Palestinian civilian life; the country`s actions prove that it regards the life of a Palestinian way less important than the life of a Jewish Israeli. But, ALL HUMAN BEINGS ARE EQUAL. Jew = Christian = Muslim = Athiest = Hindu = ... Everyone has a right to live in peace. The citizens of Sderot HAVE a RIGHT to live in peace too. |
