| The Austrians always clung to the myth of being Hitler`s first victim, when in truth, he was their native son and they welcomed him with open arms and delirious delight. The anti-semitism in Austria following the Nazi Anschluss was even more brutal and vicious than in Germany. And I too have not been to established what happened to my grandfather in Austro-Hungary under the Empire. The past has a way of catching up with the present and Austria`s guilt in the Holocaust can no longer be covered up. |
