| I actually visited Kosovo both during the Serb/KLA fighting and after the NATO bombing, and I can`t believe the US is pushing for Kosovo independence. Why Kosovo? Why not Darfur, or the Karen state in Burma, or Chechnya, or Tibet, or Palestine? There is nothing, NOTHING, that makes Kosovo uniquely worthy of being arbitrarily and illegally detached from the country that the world has always recognised as having sovereignty over it, that is Serbia. I`m not usually one for seeing US plots all over the place, but the only reason I can see for the US wanting Kosovo independence is so it can keep its Balkan base there and so it can get one over on Russia and its ally Serbia. The UK will follow the US like a puppy dog, as will Sarkozy, and Germany, of course, has close contacts with all sorts of anti-Serbian forces in the Balkans going back to the WW2 Croat Ustashe and as Shlomo has pointed out, the inglorious days of Albanians serving in the SS Handschar and Skanderbeg divisions. |
