I: "I`d be willing to lease the Golan Heights a-la Hong Kong."
China leased Hong Kong to to the British because they owned it, Israeli.
Israel does not "own" the Golan Heights.
Syria does.
I: "Demilitarize it, bring in Syrian civilians and make it an area of economic cooperation."
Syria seems quite happy with all those conditions. All Israel needs to do is agree to where the borders are (now, ain`t that a common refrain!) and sign the paper.
It refuses.
I: "Syria behaves for a hundred years: it gets sovereignty over the area."
It already *has* sovereignty over the area. It has had that sovereignty since 1946.
What it doesn`t have is "authority" over that area.
Because that`s what Israel has, and has had since 1967, and which she both established and maintains via the point of a gun.
Occupation, Israeli, not sovereignty.
There is a difference, you know.
Well, you appear to be a zionist, so I suppose you don`t know.... |
