| It would have been refreshing if Amira Hass had even slightly attempted to temper her animosity towards Israel. For instance by writing about neighbourhood memories from Sderot. or Nir Oz. Or Nahal Oz. Or Be`eri. or the 100 other communities that have been targeted by the poor, peace-loving Gazans for whom her heart aches. Presumably in the choice between writing the whole truth, on the one hand, and making a name for herself, on the other, immortality beckons far more strongly. There`s nothing wrong with being a good writer, naturally, but Ha`aretz is a newspaper, not a publisher of fiction, however well-written and however ambitious the aspirations of the writer. |
