| Israel has dumped on Abbas. It has refused to give even the slightest accommodation or success to Abbas. Hamas has consistently stood up to Israel while Abbas has consistently tried to make a deal. Abbas has failed, not through his efforts, but because Israel wants him to fail. Thus Hamas is in the perfect position. Recently Hamas relieved the suffering of Gaza. When Israel attacks Gaza Abbas will lose any remaining support in the West Bank and it will eventually fall into the hands of Hamas by the actions of Israel. When one guy pries - even for a moment - the jackboot off your neck - and the other guy appears feeble in his attempt to convince the jackboot it should let up - who do you choose? |
