I am not particularly religious,and I am not particularly enamoured of the 3 monotheistic faiths.They are too homocentric& androcentric.I like the ancient Greek philosophical notion of Being.So also in Hindu&Buddhist philosophy.Idol worship is simply the human mind`s admission that it cannot fathom the divine principle in & of itself.We need some representation that our faculties can understand.Ofcourse,Catholic Christianity understands this & allows for beautiful statues& other representations in their churches. To maintain that human beings have direct access to the divine principle simply because representations are not used,is a sign of hubris,if not just plain fanatical ignorance!
