| Sharon was a total opportunist. He used the settlement movement as a tool for personal advancement and turned against it when it suited him, just like his close friend Shimon Peres did, who also supported the settlers in the 1970`s. Before joining Begin`s gov`t in 1977, he expressed positions close to Peace Now in favor of a Palestinian state. There was only one thing Sharon cared about in his political life, and that was himself and lining his pockets, as all the corruption scandals and deceit have proven. Of course the Left loves him, he expelled Jews, so they forgive him for the thousands of dead and wounded from his Lebanon war. They are just as cynical as he was. |
