| Olmert is not impressed that an overwhelming majority of Israelis want him to go. He will equally not be impressed by the fact that in recent polls like the one by the BBC, 77% of Germans called Israel the country they despised the most, the highest number in Europe. He will bring home the wrong message that he is among great friends. When he will visit Jewish institutions, he will disregard the fact that these can exist only under heavy police guard and that Jewish cemeteries are desecrated week after week. The show in Berlin will end up like the visits Olmert made to Washington and Moscow: when he praised his friend Putin, Russia sent a few days later the nuclear fuel to Busheer and when he praised his friend Bush, a few days later the faked report about the Iranian nuclear programme was published, letting Israel standing in the rain. Germany will continue to be the closest accomplice of the mullahs and Olmert will change nothing about it. |
