| I can understand why these cronies are running scared. The yearly budget allocated for pensions alone at the JA is several times greater than all the money raised by NBN from day one. No much has changed since 1979. My shaliach could hardly speak English and never finished high school. His 4 kids were enrolled at the prestigious Ramaz school in Manhattan which at the time cost $10K a year paid for by the generous donations and poor Israeli tax payers. Like many before him, he saw opportunity all around him and eventually became a partner in a successful NYC based travel agency together with the person who was at the time the Rosh Hanhaga of Betar. Needless to say he never returned to Israel to live. 3 of his four children married out and his home in Raanana which he still owns is leased to a family who made Aliya from New Jersey. |
