When I made Aliyah in 2001, the JA Shaliach gave me information about my Bituach Leumi rights that turned out to be wrong. When I called him on the phone to protest his mistake, he refused to take my call.

But the real problem is the antiquated "Aliyah rights", which are largely useless and need to be updated. Most of the customs discounts on importing appliances are not worth using, because the price of these goods in Israel is reasonable. The housing/mortgage benefits are useless if you plan to live in Jerusalem, Tel Aviv, or surrounding suburbs unless you want to live in a cardboard box. The Aliyah rights bear no relation to the actual costs/bureaucratic problems of setting up a home in Israel.
