THis confirms what always happens with immigrant communities. In the USA, the best university students (on average) are teh Jews and the Chinese -- because of their home envirnment that encourages reading and study. There, fewer Italian, Irish and other ethnic groups make it to the top of the class (but there are certainly exceptions that do).
My experience in Israel is that lots of my Russian university students make it to the top, together with the graduates of the Intelligence Corp. Yet certain former-Soviets are lazy and don`t have the drive to excel, and they fall below the average Israelis. |
