| there is a solid, overwhelming opposition to the recognition of israel in mauritania, where virtually everyone supports the palestinians. the only reason mauritania`s regime recognizes israel is to gain US support -- before that, ould tayaa recognized iraq`s occupation of kuwait to gain saddam`s backing. that says something about the principles involved, or the lack of principles. stop pretending otherwise. if there was a functioning democracy in mauritania (and there might still be), the ties with israel will be cut in a heartbeat. |
