The right-wingers insist on talking of the Jewish settlers, because to them the fact that they`re Jewish is the key point.
But in international law, it`s irrelevant. The simple fact is that an occupying power cannot settle its population in occupied areas, whatever their religion. The same would apply to Israeli Arabs.
So the Knesset can decide to evacuate the Israeli settlers - in fact it must, to obey international law. And the same law means the Knesset cannot evacuate the non-Israeli population.
Or does international law not apply to Israel? |
