Potassium nitrate is fertilizer. Trucks full of it drive all over the US every day.
If Israel has been blockading fertilizer from reaching the West Bank and Gaza, then it wouldn`t be suspicious for farmers to have to smuggle fertilizer in at a time like this, right before spring crop planting. This is when the demand is highest for legal, legitimate farming needs.
On the other hand, it could very well be used to make explosives. Just like a dozen other chemicals typical folks have sitting under their sinks at home.
This story doesn`t even become remotely interesting unless they have strong, hard factual evidence that this fertilizer was destined for explosives instead of plows. |
