It is true that Israelis have a fear of learning too much of a foreign language, fear, like the French, the they will lose a part of their cultural identity. Israel is already infused with English, as poorly spelled or written as it is. There is such a great fear of English, that although government and banking forms can be found in Russian, Arabic and even Amharic, they cannot be found in English, or the offices around the country don`t stock up on the English translations.
And yes, most Israelis speak English with a heavy accent, even those who must study with English material in university. |
