Iran is, without doubt, the premier threat to world peace. Two recent developments are indications that Iran is racing toward completion of its nuclear weapons program:
1 Iran`s new, Safir-1 space rocket, suitable for carrying a nuclear warhead;
2 a new, advanced centrifuge at Natanz, which works three times as fast as the previous centrifuge.
Unless the world`s major powers put aside their traditional differences, and cooperate in countering this menace emanating from Iran, we might find ourselves in a situation where Iran will be the cause of a major catastrophe for world peace.
Although Iran is an existential threat to the State of Israel, and as such, is an immediate threat to her, Israel is not the only state threatened. The outbreak of any major war in the Midddle East is undoubtedly of such strategic threat to world peace, that no major power can remain indifferent to such a possibility. This is the time for Russia and the US to counter this threat together and resolutely. |
