Are threefold, Mr. Hollingsworth:
1. "Might makes right" - stemming from the Conquest of the region and the addition of Arab colonists and converts to Islam to its local population. This followed the conquest-colonization of the Roman-Byzantine empire following the Jewish revolts. 2. The continued Arab presence since the conquest under a variety of rulers (Crusader - who also colonized the land, Mameluke, Turk, British), but the same can be said for Jews, albeit on a smaller scale. Sticking to the land is called "Sumud" in Arabic. 3. Muslim Arabs themselves concentrate on a 3rd claim, similar to the "God gave us" claim that you hate so much to hear from Jews: Once ANY land is conquered by Islam, it may not be given up. It is an eternal "waqf," or Islamic property, and part of Dar esSalaam - Realm of Peace - and not part of the as yet unconquered, un-islamified Dar el-Harb - Realm of War. You are most likely living in the Realm of War, which must still be conquered by Islam. Enjoy |
