| First, I do not wish to defend an arrogant dimwit, who, while IDF soldiers were about to be placed in harms way, took time out to protect his financial portfolio (yikes!). Second, however, Halutz was not primarily responsible for the EXTREMELY poor state of the army - ill-trained ( this was true for even some "elite" units), ill-equipped , with officers who did not know what they were doing , and with generals and colonels who (for the most part) were hiding out in TA. Third, it was the arny generals who came up with the moronic "limited incursion strategy" : For example, after 3 days of war, Gen. Kaplinsky told Haaretz that air power alone would win the war, and that it would all be over in 10 more days. When this did not work, they tried the limited incursions. Jeez, what a disgrace. |
