US CITIZEN thinks that Nasrallah is holding off attacks because the IDF increased their deterent strength due to Leb. War II. Or that Iran put strings on the cash they handed Hassan to distribute, that he not attack Israel. Or that the US/EU/UN donations to LEBANESE citizens are in any way connected to HEZBOLLAH.
Nothing could be further from the truth.
The border is quiet because the war had the direct outcome of increasing Hassan Nasrallah`s political power. He is now busy locked in a political battle to convert his post-war political gains into permanent, statutory veto power over the entire Lebanese Gov`t.
He is too busy converting his war gains into political gains to mess with cross-border attacks. Far from defeated, Hassan is now more powerful then ever, both militarily and politically.
I hope Israel doesn`t hand this same sort of defeat to Hamas, by attacking Gaza. |
