It`s not insane, unless you approve of Erdogan`s attempt to criminalize adultery (with a 3 year prison sentence) & outlaw the consumption of alchohol. His attempts to pass those laws failed because they weren`t viewed as "human rights" issues.
Now, Erdogan has latched onto the headscarf as a "human rights" issue. Foolish people who don`t understand Turkey`s internal politics buy it wholesale.
Make no mistake about it. The headscarf is a political symbol. Allowing it in public spaces worn as Iranian women are forced to is a step towards Sharia law & is a big step for wannabe Jihadis, who will begin to harass women who don`t wear the scarf "hijab" style or a Burka.
As Turkey moves closer to EU membership, outside forces, are trying harder to destabilize Turkey as they have throughout history through the use of religion, "genocide" and other claims.
We won`t allow it in govt forums. People can wear what they want in private schools, on the street & at home. |
