| The statement of MK Zahalka illustrates the incompatibility of a bi-national state. Arabs cannot be Israelis under any circumstances as they wish their own country. This is something completely normal and reasonable. However, Lebanon is an example of a bi-national state which is at war with itself most of the time. In the Middle East, nationality is determined by religion. If the Jews living in Judea and Samaria must be repatriated across the Green Line, the Arabs living within pre-1967 Israel, too, must be exchanged and move to the Palestinian state. The two peoples are incompatible as was stated in the Peel Commission report 70 years ago. Population exchange is the only means to establish a more peaceful Middle East. Two nations cannot live in one. |
