A comment that rather refutes the argument that the IDF hit this base because Hezbollah was using it as a shield:
"Patrol Base Khiam was located close to such an objective at the southern edge of the El Khiam village, and the attacks of that day were preparatory fires for an intended ground incursion within that vicinity."
The IDF wanted to take that village, so it went about flattening any obstacle between it and that target, and that included the UN Post.
So unless you want to claim that Hezbollah MOVED that village so that it was closer to the UN post then that Israeli claim that "Hezbo made me do it" is sounding rather hollow. |
