| Israel needs a Hatikvah that expresses the aspirations of its own people(s), not diaspora Jews who look longingly at Zion from thousands of miles away! Replace nefesh yehudi (Jewish soul) with nefesh yisraeli (Israeli soul). The part about never losing hope of having our own country can stay the same. "Lihyot am chofshi b`artzeinu" (to be a free people in our own land) b`midinat yisrael v`yerushalaim (in a the State of Israel and Jerusalem--replace "eretz tzion") v`Yerushalyim." I sent this idea to Arutz Sheva and they actually published this about 10-12 years ago--in their Purim edition! But it`s not as crazy as it sounds. |
