Thus systemic structural failings means that the functions of strategic objectives by the Generals within the IDF should be pre defined in terms of objectives to accomplish within theatre of operations. This was not fully realised as there was no exit strategy let alone a consolidation of territory strategy.
Equally so a systemic political failing in that there was a communicative breakdown with senior Generals and Politicians.
Most of all is the systemic failure to have acknowledged that the Iranians were heavily complicit in the region, both on a funding and logistical emphasis within Lebanon through proxies in Syria.
What resulted was a protacted Air Campaign complimented with a staggered ground campaign which led to partial territory gained, followed by a pause followed by further consolidation of ground personnel by the IDF which came at the end.This should have been realised from the beginning and in parrallel with the air campaign.
