Perhaps President Peres could also remind successive Israeli governments of their responsibility to diaspora communities, where all reliable data show that antisemitic acts increase with disproportionate Israeli action against the Palestinians - and, indeed, other Arab peoples.
However much Israel may try to claim sympathy as the victim of terror, a disproportionate response casts her in the role of Goliath rather than David - and creates a negative reaction to Jews as well as Israelis in the world at large. |
