| This is so sick and out of line. These kids will be snobs like the Cohens next door, but have no regard to what people feel. Mitzwah? What? And how much must the "check" present have to be, to feel accepted. Parents -- be ashamed of what you are doing to your 12/13 year olds! They are born into the "nuvo riche" society. Kids used to look foreward to their bar/bat mitzwahs, as something special. We had the parties at home, and often requested "no presents" because that way the kids don`t feel like not belonging to the super snob crowd. If they want to give a present, why not give something at the time of the occasion, something they will enjoy for years? The parties are for the kids and not for the adults teaching them how to be wealthy. Future oligarchs or future human beings? Make your choice!!!!!!! |
