| My son is being bar-mitzvah nest week. I thnik it importsnt to buck the trend toward extravagance by focusing on the original meaning of this rite of passage and less on the trappings of materialism that have become a trap for many. It is manifestly unfair to subject young adults to a life of `keeping-up-with-the Cohens` and to rob them of a self-esteem they can earn based on character and values. |
