It is truly astonishing to read time and time again of the disparate treatment meted out to Israeli Arabs. If 13 Jews had been killed, heads would have rolled; in this instance no action is undertaken, one of the reasons being cited the passage of too much time. Well, too much time had transpired because of the lack of attention given to these murders. The logic is akin to "facts on the ground", nothing can be done about it. The Israeli Arab community is justifiably repelled by the absence of justice. The original protests that gave rise to these murders were entirely justifiable; after all protests are the right of citizens in democratic countries. The underlying sense of injustice is now aggravated, and we should be ashamed by the despicable two tiered justice in Israel. |
