| Egypt cannot allow Hamas to undermine its sovereign authority in the eyes of the world. Egypt cannot allow Hamas and its client states, Iran-Syria, to humiliate it any further. Egypt must do whatever it takes to restore public order on its border. Egypt is not Lebanon, and Egypt cannot allow even the perception of foreign interference in its affairs. Nor can Egypt be seen as rewarding Hamas for its violation of Egyptian sovereignty. |
