Yes, Fred, the Arab states have a heavy responsibility for how they`ve oppressed the Gazans for the last 60 years. But that doesn`t let Israel off the hook: she`s still got the first and heaviest responsibility. And to have Israel now claim that it`s nothing to do with her sticks in the craw.
I think there is a chance to solve the problem now: but it certainly isn`t going to involve mocing all the Gazans to Egypt. If Israel won`t let a large number of them settle in the West Bank this will fester for another two generations - and ultimately that will be fatal for the security of Israel as well as the poor Palestinians themselves. |
