My great uncle Moshe is a founding member of Kibbutz Lohemei Ha-Gettaot...our family was essentially wiped out by the Nazi`s in the Shoah. The only survivors were my grandfather, a proud Zionist, his wife and brother and our relatives on the kibbutz and at Kibbutz Afek.
As a liberal free thinking Jewish Israeli Zionist, I hope one day to see the creation of a Palestinian state living side by side in Peace with Israel.
However, I can never apologize for the success of the Zionist movement and the creation of The State of Israel because were it not for our Jewish national homeland, quite frankly I would not be sitting here typing this.
But the Palestinians must learn that we too are human beings...and though they have suffered from the creation of our state, they are not innocent victims. They too can be masters of their own destiny...only when they decide the time has come to control their own destiny rather then seeking to destroy ours. |
