It is great that everyone is taking the peace seriously. However what will happen when by some chance there is going to be agreement on core issues?
The Palestinians are sure to demand a quick implementation and Israel will have to give in. This is one of the reasons Israelis do not believe in the process. They visualize a quick implementation with the consequent instability on the Palestinian side unable to truly combat terror and put together a stable functional state.
It is essential therefore that as there will be agreement today that as soon as there is agreement on final status issues, a detailed staged plan for implementation will be put together by both sides. Such a plan would allow an orderly and well monitored transfer of control from Israel to the Palestinians. The process will not proceed until each step is completed thus making it impossible for a "terror state" to come about on the Palestinian side and allowing Israel to proceed next step knowing other side will. |
