| The real meaning of the NIE (as a political statement that Bush does not intend to make war on Iran) is that Israel is free of US pressure to make concessions to Abbas and the palestinians. If Olmert wants to live up to his responsibilities, he needs to make sure that israel concentrates on maximizing its security by strengthening its military capabilities (while giving only lip service to meaningless peace talks with palestinians). |
