Ariel Zilber captures the essence of the Ulpan. It is a place which is about much more than JUST learning the language. It is also a part of the safety net which helps people become part of this country. The Ulpan system has historically been a central part of what made Israel great and a home for new immigrants. I know countless people from around the world who have come to Israel specifically to study the language which was revived less than 100 years ago. Pity the government has so little foresight.
