| Bill, CIWS has a lot of limitations, mostly software-based, that COULD be improved (like the ability to recognize IFF). As you say, though, it`s limitations in a field-of-battle, or civilianized area, are easy to see. They operate using their own software, radar, and prioritization routines. Except in a war situation with lots of room (like at sea), they`re not safe to use. Also, where do the projectiles that miss their target land?? |
