| Hamas is being boycotted because it refuses to comply with the demands of the Quartet that it renounce terror, that it abide by past agreements, and that it recognize Israel. Just this past December, Ishmael Haniey had declared at a rally for Hamas anniversary that the Palestinians will never recognize Israel. Hanieh also praised Al Qaeda for its operations in Afghanistan and Pakistan. From Damascus, Khaled Meshal declared that Abbas had no mandate to negotiate with Israel. He further declared that the Palestinians were ready to launch new intifadas till the dawn of victory. Hamas was, and has remained a radical totalitarian Islamist movement. |
