This might be a good time for Israel to have the same debate now going on in the Western US about water usage. In a place where there is (and always will be) a water shortage there has to be more thought to whether growing very thirsty crops in a desert environment is a good idea, or whether some of the water currently wasted there should go to more profitable uses (people).
