We Buddhist and Hindus use idols all the time, we do not worship the idol, but what it represents to us.
The Hindus, who are the worlds oldest faith, also does this, their book, the Bhagavad Gita is the oldest religous text in the world and if one reads it you will see that life is not binary, good and evil, god is not a force that dictates to man, we are all a part of the lifeforce, all of us, the buddha found elightenment from this.
An important note, there has NEVER been a war for Buddhism, NO ONE has EVER spread Buddhism by the sword and if you look at the tibetans, they don`t even fight because they see that attachment to anything, even ideologies, leads to misery. It seems that in the middle east there is too much attachments to places, objects, ideas, that everyone is making themselves miserable. PEACE |
