You may not get around too much but the kinds of things described are practiced by many different Jews. They are not "replacements" to prayer - they are simply traditions that Jews use to bring into their lives.
An Orange on a seder plate is obviously not a practice of Jewish law but simply a tradition to show the importance (to some) of women being part of something that for hundreds of years was kjept from them because the Rabbinic laws were written by men.
A woman may NOT be obligated to perform time-bound mitzvot but the is NOTHING in Jewish Law that PREVENTS her from doing so. |
