I`m fine with whatever people want to do that they think is meaningful, and I don`t mind at all if they call it Judaism, but I don`t like that this is being presented as "what most American Jews do," when that isn`t the truth. I think there are a lot of unaffiliated people who do this stuff, but the people I know who go to reform, conservative, and orthodox shuls are generally NOT doing this kind of stuff. We might do yoga at the JCC, but not as replacement for services. We might put an orange on the seder plate or Miriam`s cup on the table, but we also have a traditional full seder. In other words, we may incorporate new traditions into our Judaism, but we don`t replace our traditional practice with stuff that is secondary. But no one writes articles about us, because we`re not as "interesting," and there won`t be as many talkbacks. :)
