The same as there are British Jews, American Jews, African Americans, Afro Caribbean, Britih Indian, Europeans, White Anglo Saxons, Kurds.
Since the dawn of time people have wished to live within groups, tribes if you like with a common identity, culture and traditions.
This is not an issue to anyone, why don`t you ask an Israeli Arab why he refers to him/herself as such.
When I asked a Jew why he referred to himself as a British Jew rather than just British. He said the answer is simple he was proud to be British and proud to be a Jew. |
